We all have hopes and dreams, but too many of us never accomplish them.  Why?  Fear, procrastination, health problems – there are all sorts of reasons why.  However, you can realize your dreams or at least shoot for them and learn and grow along the way.  What you cannot afford is to sit around and wait for your dreams to magically come true.

What does it take to make your dreams come true?  Take the first step, then another, then another.  You must work toward your dream on a daily basis.  Even if you don’t fully accomplish your dream, you’ll end up having had all sorts of adventures and having met delightful people and lived an enriched life along the way.  All of which you would have missed if you had not tried.

I know, firsthand, that CF or some other rare disease or disability, forces us to change and adjust how we move toward our goals, but we can still aim for them and stretch ourselves along the way.

It’s important to remember that life is a journey and so is reaching for your goals.  The journey is what’s important, for on that journey, your dreams and passions may change, as mine have. But without a dream, we stagnate and accept the easy, mediocre life.

For those of use with CF, we must be compliant with all our treatments to reach our dreams and goals, one of which should be being in the best health you can possibly be for the time the cure comes.  They you can more fully benefit from it.

It requires getting up off your butt and working to become the person you want to be. Look for people who are actively pursuing their goals and learn from them.

Some dreams may, in the long run turn out to be impossible.  That’s okay. Pursue your dreams with all you can give toward them.  You’ll be a better person for it.

Remember, don’t talk the talk, walk the walk.
